While the company ownership may have changed hands over the years, the core management team and dedicated staff have remained constant. In 2016, ELI returned to local ownership under Mr. Barber's leadership. Meet Our Crew
In addition to the key personnel noted below, ELI has a highly qualified staff of Engineers, Riggers, and support personnel who’s experience in wireline, geology, radiation, and explosives, is unsurpassed in the business, and insures that every job will be done in the most effective way possible with the highest technical skill.
Kurt Shobe
President / Partner
Mr. Shobe has been involved in the oil and gas industry for over forty years, starting in his late teens working as a roustabout in the oil fields of southeast Kansas. Later he became a pumper, responsible for operating and maintaining leases. He has worked for the Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE), was an environmental engineer at the McPherson, Kansas refinery, and has over twenty years in the consulting business, working with the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) and several private oil and gas companies.
Scott Case
COO / Managing Partner
Mr. Case has over twenty-four years of experience in the midstream oil and gas business, including approximately 14 years managing underground hydrocarbon storage, terminal facilities, and pipeline assets with a background in large capital project management. He has also worked with the KDHE and KCC for many years as part of responsibilities associated with the experience noted above. Mr. Case also has extensive experience in Mergers and Acquisitions, working with Private Equity groups and facilitating transactions with private and publicly traded companies. Mr. Case is responsible for leading ELI’s business development efforts, managing staff and client relationships, and providing guidance to team members.
Jeff Luebbers
Open Hole Manager and Open Hole Engineer
Mr. Luebbers has 40 years of experience in the wireline business, the vast majority of which has been with ELI Wireline. His engineering experience ensures our customers have the technical expertise they require. Jeff’s specialty is in open hole engineering; however, he is also skilled in cased hole wireline operations while managing our Open Hole Operations.
Mike Thomason
Storage Manager and Engineer
Mr. Thomason started his wireline career in 1990 and since 1995 has been with ELI. Mike specializes in Underground Hydrocarbon Storage, Porosity Storage, Salt Solution Mining, Class I Disposal Well Work, and Cased Hole Engineering. With a career spanning more than 34 years, he is one of the most experienced engineers in the business, assuring customers have the technical detail and specialization their projects require.
Levi Weeden
Cased Hole Operations and Explosive Manager
Mr. Weeden brings over a decade of engineering experience to ELI, dedicating the last eight to ELI’s Cased Hole division while directly managing our explosive program and our Cased Hole Operations. His vast knowledge in cased hole engineering serves our customers efficiently and skillfully.
Christin Olson
COSM/ RSO/ Operations Coordinator
Ms. Olson brings 37 years of experience to ELI serving as Operations Coordinator, with a diverse background and expertise in the energy industry, including oil, gas, and nuclear segments. As a Certified Occupational Safety Manager, she oversees the management of our compliance, site safety, and risk coordination programs; also serving as our Radiation Safety Officer. Her role as Operations Coordinator ensures our daily business logistics continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
Richard Leeth
Petrophysicist / Log Analyst and Sales
Mr. Leeth has been working with ELI Wireline since its inception 1990’s, and brings over 50 years of experience to the table. Over that time, he has performed log interpretation for nearly every type of wireline log. He has given numerous presentations on wireline interpretation over the years, and has long established relationships with most of the members of the oil and gas community in the Midwest.
Michelle DeWitt
Office Manager
Mrs. DeWitt has a Bachelor of Administration Degree in Accounting from Fort Hays State University and has been with ELI Wireline since 2005. Her duties include payroll processing, billing, receivables, payables, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Her dedication and expertise assures our customers have the most efficient management and support.
Adam Cassidy
Tool Technician
Mr. Cassidy is responsible for the maintenance of all tools utilized in the field are in the best operating condition. He has the skills to maintain the wireline equipment on location, which allows the tools to be available and regularly maintained without shipping them back to the manufacturer for maintenance. Maintains calibration of all equipment and Lab equipment located at the Hays office.
